In general, Bertie is doing incredibly well since the application of Noah's Ark Essences! I was therefore more than normally surprised and worried when there was a 'blip' this morning! This was certainly due to a visit by a student for piano, who is 6ft 7in tall and all black.....a lovely man who used to play basketball for France.
Now Bertie well knows Jacques, he's been coming a long time and at my request always ignores the dogs. This way they don't over react or get excited. This morning however, when Jacques had left, Bertie growled at me on my approach to give him the Separation/Anxiety Essence before I had to go out. It wasn't just one growl but he advanced in a menacing fashion whilst growling all the time. I turned away of course.
After a while I tried again. This time I could give the Essence but he was still growling. What happened?? Why after several days of blissful peace and harmony did Bertie suddenly revert to his former aggressive behaviour?? Furthermore, he is still keeping himself to himself in the dining room while Nanette and I are in the lounge at the computer!! In the meantime, I have been out for about an hour.
Of course, jealousy is the first thing that comes to mind but he wouldn't attack me for that reason....Jacques yes, ( if he was still here). No, I think he goes back into the past to a scenario which was a real 'nightmare' for him and certainly jealousy was a part of it.
I think he may have belonged to a woman who adored him and his mother Mimi (RIP cherie) but the husband was perhaps aggressive and didn't like Bertie and was jealous of his wife's absorption in the dogs ( yes it does happen!!)....or maybe the woman died and male members of the family were fed up with the dogs or some variant on that.
They both arrived here from the Refuge in little red coats that had been lovingly hand made but at the same time they were seen being put out of a car on the route in a cardboard box by a man. Over the period since their adoption a picture has formed in my psyche of a nasty situation similar to my description. Never mind, we are progressing and we will get there finally!!
