Nanette: A Very Brave Dog

and how one little dog showed her life

Bertie - 28th Feb 2009.

Yesterday, after 3 days of anti inflammatory's, Bertie had very little difficulty or pain on awaking but even so, there was the now familiar tendency to hunch up his shoulders and there was obviously a slight discomfort.

Rosi's Essences arrived yesterday so I immediately began to try out 'Pain Relief'. I applied it to Bertie's spine from neck down to tail and gently massaged it into the skin. In 10 minutes, the hunched up posture had relaxed and he was clearly feeling comfortable enough to want to go out. It was a joy to see him run along the little path to the park!! The picture was taken about 15 minutes after I applied the essence.

This morning ( 28th ), he was not happy and had some pain but after an application, we again went out to the little park close by. What I have noticed is, that we start off very well but after about 20 mins walking, he hunches up again and I carry him. I did a repeat performance this afternoon when the same situation arose. There is no doubt that a combination of the homoeopathic sedative I have for him plus pain relief essence shifts the pain.

I have completely modified the walking programme. I take each dog separately now... this is rather tough on me as I now must walk 4 times a day!! and Nanette requires a long walk, but it's working!! The really interesting thing is that Bertie now allows me to take Nanette out separately without a fuss!! The first couple of times I did this, we could hear him half way round the block!! THEN....as I am in the habit of doing......I checked my reaction! and found myself feeling very anxious about leaving him!! Voila! There we have it....projection again.

There would be no hope of Bertie behaving otherwise while I am reacting like that. Of course, I immediately 'observed' my anxiety and in doing so, it dissolved. I had become the 'watcher' instead of the participant!! This mechanism gave it no further energy. Sure enough, next time we went out, he didn't make a sound. He was, in fact...picking up on my worry and 'guilt' at leaving him alone.

This evening, I also put on a CD from Kip Mazuy of Bliss Music which is a useful tool in Healing Meditation and also has the advantage of calming the nervous system....marvellous for the treatment of pain!! It always knocks both dogs for six!! and now I am using it regularly for the treatment of Bertie's problem.

If I am making a mistake it is to walk him a little too long....maybe I will reduce it to 15 mins  ... it just seems so short for a dog who loves the world of nature and revels in his curiosity about it!! The acid test will be the next 2 days prior to our visit to the osteopath on Tuesday because the anti inflammatory will be completely out of his system. xx
