Nanette: A Very Brave Dog

and how one little dog showed her life

Violata PaxOnly a few days following the Saga of the Pigeons ( please see previous blog ), we saw erected in our Town... on the central roundabout....a huge DOVE.

The Bird is 15FT high , with a wounded face and some missing 'toes.' This Scultpure is the central theme of an exhibition called ' Violata Pax' by a well know local Artist. This is the latin for ' Wounded Peace' and represents in this context....' The Wounds of Humanity' !

Nanette, Bertie and I were obliged to pass through revolving traffic to reach the Island on which the Dove has been placed. We all three gazed up in awe at the sad face. I was trying to figure out what Bertie and Nanette were feeling? One can be pretty sure that our dear Bertie had his mind on the possibility of a small smackerel of something at the local Cafe!! But Nanette was very Still and Thoughtful in spite of the traffic on all sides of us.

I was thankful to both dogs that they allowed me to take some pictures, which meant dropping the leads and trusting them not to move!! Afterwards, we negotiated the traffic again and made for the Cafe. I could not believe the apparent Hypocrisy of this Bird placed there....right in the Centre....in the same week as a plan to gas all the local Pigeons!!!

Then again...  was it??  The right side side of the Dove's face is broken,' wounded' ( intentionally by the Artist ) while the other side  ( left side ) is perfect....Nanette took a while to convey this to me but the question arose followed by a conviction, that the Dove and it's placement were there at precisely the right moment.!

Eventually I  got her Real Meaning......' Two Faced '!!! Indeed, what more Two Faced than a Village that would plan to kill all the Pigeons and then Place this Dove, symbolising ' The Wounds of Humanity ' in such a prominent position all in the same few days? !!! and yet...what Wisdom!!

Normally, the right side of the body is considered the Masculine side and the left....the Feminine. In referring to these aspects, I am not writing about Gender here, but about Energies which are inherent in the Nature of all Humans and Animals regardless of Gender... and whose Natural Function is to integrate with and compliment each other.

It's not difficult to see that these Energies...instead of complimenting each other, have become extremely polarised......both in the Inner Life of Individuals and the Outer. This has lead to unhealthy  Competitiveness, Aggression, and all kinds of Violence.

In placing the Dove, with it's poignant Symbolism, right on the Central Roundabout of our Town ,during the same few days that a decision was made to eliminate the Town's Pigeons, demonstrates ( in my view, as prompted by Nanette ) that the Collective Psychology of Vence has elected for Awareness and therefore for Healing!!

Awareness of what? of the ' Split'... Awareness of the False Perception that we have inherited, of a Separation between our Animal Nature and our Human Nature and our Masculine Energies from our Feminine Energies...A kind of Collective Agreement to embrace At-onement. Not all at once mind!! But at least a Consciousness seems to have arisen and is revealed to us by a local Artist.

A couple of days after this, we had a further very strange experience!! I was working at my Piano and heard a pecking sound at the window....I turned at the same moment that Bertie rushed to ' Manage' the situation....to see two Pigeons ,sitting on the rail which lies against my huge south facing windows, and pecking at the Glass!!!

Of course they flew off at once when Bertie rushed in to the room....but not before I felt some kind of 'Wonder'. Yes, I know!!!!...Completely ' Mad' isn't it?!! But it has never happened before in all the years I have lived here.

Oh!! By the way....the Pigeons are still present in the Town!!! Maybe it's not so crazy after all!! xx
