Quote' All Dogs should be wormed monthly ' unquote. My goodness me!! What alot of money we are throwing into the coffers of drug companies !! Not only that, such persons who follow this practise are pouring chemicals into their pets bodies which do more harm than good!! If you really want to alarm yourself, You can find various side effects to commonly used worming pills on the internet.
However, the best person to judge the condition of your pet's stomach is ...guess who? YOU!! There, that was a surprise wasn't it!!! No , not the Vet...YOU!! Simply through observation on a daily basis ,you can assess the health or otherwise of your Dog's Stomach and Digestive System. Your Dog should pass a motion every day ...preferably at approximately the same time time every day, although that's not obligatory of course and sometimes it may be twice in the day. Observe the texture, the size, the colour. If the stool is all in one piece, even and softly firm throughout with a good ' normal ' colour, then you have no need to worry.
If you see something that doesn't 'look right' to you , then there's a simple solution. A healthy Bowel, whether Human or Canine depends on a healthy Bowel Flora . It is well nigh impossible for worms of any importance to survive in a healthy Bowel. How do we ensure a healthy Bowel Flora? NOT with a deworming tablet ....in fact that will be more likely to destroy Bowel Flora which is an important protection.
In every Chemist you can normally find a ' Probiotic ' . Ask for a vegetable based product and over a period of a few days each month, give your Dog 1 or 2 tablets according to size. I think you will find that this simple healthy method will clear up any problems and prevent further infections or whatever.
Nanette had a worming pill once.... otherwise during her time with me ( coming up to 8 years now) she has regularly been given a Probiotic. I always judge by the condition of the stool.
Equally Rosi of www.noahsarkessences.com provides a ' Worming Essence' . This is excellent and applied once a month to the base Chakra...is very effective.
Please recognise that Deworming, Vaccinations, Chips ( and not the fried kind!! ) etc ,are all invasive techniques which cannot possibly do less than seriously challenge the Immune System of your Pet and shorten it's lifespan.. They are all avoidable unless you intend to travel with your Dog.
