Nanette: A Very Brave Dog

and how one little dog showed her life

There's an article in the Daily Mail today which although a familiar story I'm afraid, brings something that as a race we would perhaps prefer to hide from into sharp focus!! ( Please see under Latest Articles ).

As I glance across at Bertie cuddled up on the sofa ( tut tut!! ), I remember the day about 8 months ago when he found himself with his ailing 15 year old mother in a cardboard box on the side of the road. Mimi, his mother, was both blind ( almost ) and deaf!! and his suffering as he tried desperately to protect her was appalling!!

What is it about humanity that for all our supposed intelligence, makes us the most insensitive, cruel and fearful race on the planet? Is it not true that all inhabitants occupying Planet Earth have an identity card? Do we not all possess a DNA.....a code which is with us at the moment of entry into this dimension, a code that says we have the right to be here and to live freely in a natural state as appropriate for our species?

Then why do we humans ravage forests, oceans and all natural habitats to the point of the extinction of many species? Why do we 'domesticate' animals (lovely word that!!) and then subject them to all kinds of cruelty and abuses? I speak collectively here, obviously there are thousands of animal lovers out there who do all they can and more to save and rehome the unfortunates. Even so, this is like bailing water out of a boat that has a large hole in the hull!! These are short term answers as opposed to permanent solutions.

Let's take the case of Bertie and Mimi, two miniature Dachshunds ( story in brief under title' Bertie ') who as we know, were seen being dumped outside the gate of a vet at the side of the road. They were not attached to the gate and obviously it was only a matter of a few minutes before they broke out of the box!!

The man was driving a 4x4 and having dumped the box, drove off at high speed. I relate this only to provide a model....not to judge this man or anyone in fact. None of us know what pressures drove him to this extreme and none of us have been perfect every moment of our lives....BUT we can judge the ACT. There's no denying that it was an act of extreme insensitivity and cruelty.

We cannot know the details of the situation, the pressures, the 'local reasons' if I may put it like that. What we can do is step back and examine the possible motivations humans in general have...that's myself as well!!....to act in this way.  What we can see is that this was the result of a 'fear- full' state of mind.

The human ego is a 'body' of energy which depends on Fear for its food and survival.....we know that it is a ruthless, manipulative and a violent perpetrator of all human 'unease' and we all possess this energy and sometimes in our lives...it possesses us!!! This is evident everyday of our lives....see the BBC News!!! Please let's remember not to get into judgement of any one individual here.....that in itself would be an ego manipulation.

Modern Quantum Physicists tell us that there is a web of energy which interpenetrates and connects all creation. They claim that it is not possible for a person to have even a thought without a ripple effect throughout the Universe. If this is true then our reactions to events in our world are potentially extremely powerful for good or ill!!! if for example, we react to Bertie's abandonment with anger and the idea of revenge, we simply build on an already very negative, destructive energy around him.

What if we stand back and simply observe the struggle with these emotions and in so doing cause their intensity to diminish and then dissolve? What if we simply focus on holding open a 'psychological space' for Bertie? Judgement could not exist in such conditions.

This is what I think happens. The first thing is that Bertie changes. His aggressive stance which was very marked at the beginning becomes almost non existent. Oh he still has his moments but they become more and more rare?? He is discovering who he really is, if I may put it like that!! You see? No aggression is being projected on to him to reflect back!!

Could this mechanism have any effect on his previous owners? The answer is 'Yes' according to Quantum Physics. There is a sense in which the negative energy web woven around him by the previous owners has been broken. Something else, something positive and light has entered the equation!! Is this the real meaning of that misunderstood term 'Forgiveness'?? I ask myself?

.........To be continued plus an account of a hilarious adventure today when I bought Bertie a raincoat!!! Ooh La La!!!! His reaction!!! Have a lovely evening allxx
