Nanette's attraction!!

I took Nanette to the Cafe with me today. This is quite a challenge for her because although it's very friendly, it's quite noisy and there are quite a few ' busy ' dogs there.

What is puzzling me more than anything else is how much attention she attracts from other people!! She's exceptionally quiet and moves calmly ...always beside me and sits through the meal at my side. There's not much space between our table and tables to the left of us but she sits there while people pass and step over her tail...saying a few words to her or giving a quick caress.

Nanette and my New Socks

E-mail Print PDF

The picture below shows Nanette inclined to play for the first time since Bertie's demise in February 2011.

When she first came to live with me, she had no idea of playing at all. Then when Bertie arrived RIP , she would watch him with a Ball or Socks or anything that would move!

One day , she picked up his Ball and tossed it! She didn't do it again for several weeks and it was clear that it seemed a tad scary to her. It just so happens that I had a pair of splendid Angora Socks for Christmas which were on the table....low enough for Nanette to clearly see them. I came into the room to see her tossing them, tearing off the label and then sitting with them between her paws!!

She has started to feel playful again after all this time......Bless her !!and I don't mind sharing my socks with her at all!!!!

Nanette's Breakthrough!!

E-mail Print PDF

Nanette has had many fears. When she arrived with me 7 years ago, she WAS fear. One by one ...through the years and with healing from Rosi plus positive experiences with people and other canine friends, she has dropped the majority of her ' nightmares'!

One big fear was the wind! When there was a gale or even a bit of a gusty day, she declined to go outside. She would in fact retire immediately to the shoe cupboard. It was noticeable that her biggest fear was something dropping on her?? If we did go out during such weather, she would peer up at the roofs and shutters quite clearly expecting something to fall on her!!
